The Character
Name: Aria
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Aria's hair is fairly long, and reaches midway down her back. It is a dark brown, sometimes light and sometimes dark depending on exposure to the sun. It is slightly wavy and very shiny, almost reflective. Normally it is kept pinned back to keep it out of her face as she absolutely detests it getting in her eyes or in her way. Her eyes are a rich, bright brown, very slightly almond-shaped, and long-lidded. At five feet, six inches tall she is of middling height. Not too tall, not too short. She weighs about one-hundred twenty pounds.
She is usually seen wearing all black, with the occasional blue or red thrown in. A black or red shirt of some type, same color pants (normally leggings), and a pair of calf-length leather boots. The boots are flat-soled (comfort first after all), and are made of a dark brown, unpolished leather. They are very flexible, fairly thin-soled which lets her grip the ground quite well and retain balance even in a fight.
Ari carries herself proudly, and this is due to her upbringing. But if you watch carefully, there is a touch of uncertainty and sadness in her mannerisms. Her eyes shift colors depending on her lighting or what she wears, dramatically, ranging from bright brown to nearly black. Her skin is flawless and has a sort of luminescence. Aria's face is lean, with prominent cheekbones that have a slight upwards slant to them and a slight smattering of freckles across the bridge. She has a wide, but somewhat thin forehead that leads down to a small, ever so slightly curved nose. Her body is slim and supple, with just a barest hint of curve (the only place that is more than a hint is her bust), and has an overlay of lean muscle that marks her for endurance more than strength.
Personality: Ari is naturally loyal and naturally rebellious at the same time. She’s a very complex woman, or so she likes to show people. She can be the life of the party and still be a moody depressive bitch, it all depends if she’s in a good enough mood to relate to people around her. She’s a quick learner and has a smart mouth.
She can kill without batting an eyelid, when talking about killing animals for food anyway, but putting down a runnerbeast has her bawling. She has a high degree of empathy for runners, firelizards.. any creature that exhibits a degree of attachment in return. While she doesn’t follow orders the way people would like, she will always get whatever done in her own way. It's just the way she works and it seems to work.
She is a person you either like right away or hate from the word go. She doesn’t care about what people think about her and prefers that people say what they need to her face, gossip is something she just can’t stand, though she's a hypocrite in that she'll gossip about others. Ari firmly believes that she should be listened to, though she isn't quite so bad as to think she's always right. She simply has a firm belief in her own self worth.
History: She was orphaned at a young age, but despite that she's had a rather good (if hard) life. Adopted by a Master Beastcrafter she was raised around runners, generally doing little, odd jobs. When she was five her job was to give the breeding animals their grain. When she was ten she was up to doing that, mucking stalls, and even exercising the animals. Shortly after that she officially became an apprentice, her adopted father recognizing that she not only had a talent for it but that she liked it too.
Studying under her father was hard, he didn't show her any favoritism whatsoever, but she was a quick learner. Though the speed of her learning was offset by the fact that she had a very smart mouth, one that tended to get her in trouble more often that not, though not usually with her father. Naran had long ago got used to his daughter's ways, but some of the other journeyman really, really disliked her. One incident that she remembers, and part of the reason why she grew up and tamed a bit of her arrogance, involved two runners and a nighttime race. The runner was her own, a young beast that had been given to her as a sort of project to raise and train, and she was confident of the animal's breeding and temperament as well as her own skill. They won the race of course, but her competitor was thrown from his runner and died. She was blamed for instigating, and she DID feel guilt, mostly because she'd egged the equally as arrogant male on. So she changed, thinking a little before she spoke and taking time to think her actions through before she did them. Sometimes. Occasionally...
The tragedy DID help her focus regardless, and she definitely became more responsible (though not necessarily less outspoken).
Eventually she wanted to branch out, and searching for opportunities found one at Falmas weyr, caring for and breeding runner-beasts. She was homesick for the first few sevendays (she loved her father and the few friends she'd made back home) but when she Impressed little Ash that helped. Taking care of the demanding, lazy little lizard helped take up what little free time she had, the time that she'd spent thinking of home before. She has now been at Falmas for eight sevenday, is settling in, and looking to be a little more social.
Impression Info
Honorific: n/a
Preference: Anything! (though Impressing a Shattered would be fun *cackles maniacally*)
Pet
Name: Ash
Age: four sevendays
Gender: Female
Species: Firelizard
Personality: She's a lazy little thing but very cuddly and clingy as most babies are. Though she is very good at communicating vividly with images and emotion, so Aria is pretty sure she's intelligent for her kind. The little green is right there whenever Aria has had a bad day with a comforting chirp and a distracting (sometimes painful) nip to her nose or lip in demand to be fed.
Description: She's a baby and is fed well (though not too much! Ari knows the danger of that) so is a little chubby but not quite fat. Her hide is a deep green in color, and seems to be brightening slightly every week.
