She wasn't a particularly happy Candidate at the moment. Ari had never planned to be a dragonrider, never even really wanted it or thought about and now all of a sudden she'd been Searched, and if a dragon chose her... well there wasn't really a way out of it. She liked her current life, she really did but-
A soft, anxious little chirp brought her gaze slightly to the right, where a tiny, green little head was just in her field of vision, faceted eyes tinted violet with worry and she sighed, trying to get a handle on her emotions. She knew the little green sensed her emotions and she didn't want to agitate the creature who was currently curled mostly under her hair. She loved the little creature, was actually having fun taking care of her. Heck the firelizard was probably the only thing keeping her from freaking out in this very new place. She hadn't been stationed IN a weyr before. Shards she'd never even left home. So the baby was her cure for homesickness, but now this...
She frowned and stopped those kinds of thoughts again when Ash chirped soothingly, despite the little things worry, and continued currying the runner, who didn't seem to sense her agitation at all. Then again they were.. not the smartest beasts. She still loved them though, loved the difficulties and simplicities of their biology and care... This particular runner was her runner, a beautiful deep brown color she'd brought it along from her home. Finished with the shoulder she moved the brush down to the mare's side, beginning to hum to distract her. She started to smile when little Ash joined in too, though a glance told her the green was back to hiding under her hair again and she chuckled mentally. Lazy little thing.. The green just gave a contented chirp and continued to hum, while Ari simply continued to move the brush in even strokes.
Maybe I'll go for a ride... That would be a way to relax. The stables were quiet and to be honest it had become a refuge for her.
