Appearance: Ceinwen is short. This much is obvious from the start: she's short for her age, and liable to be called as far younger than she is. However, her small body has a wiry strength, and she's fast, and someone voicing a loud opinion on her apparent youth might just get a punch to the gut. She isn't remotely pretty, but borders on striking instead - dark brown hair hangs to her shoulders, roughly cut. She has dark eyes that are generally blazing with anger at whatever has gotten in her way, and a stubborn chin. Her nose is beak-like: large and curved, and if she ever bothered to, she could stare down at someone with it with ease.
Her build is skinny, with a thin layer of muscle on her arms and legs. She moves around with a barely supressed tension, like a runnerbeast preparing to race, or an arrow nocked and ready to loose. Her style of clothing tends to be whatever comes to hand, though she favours clothing in shades of deep red when she actually has to get up and choose something.
Personality: Ceinwen can easily be summed up in word: angry. If there isn't something to be angry about, she'll be angry that she isn't allowed to express her frustration. This trait of hers can be particularily annoying when around people who are trying to be friendly - she erupts into a full on rage quickly, and stays there for far longer than is neccessary. Despite her tendency to hold grudges and be as sociable as a thornbush, she is also easily stressed, and can't take criticism well. She uses her anger as a shield from the harshness of the world, and a channel for what would more usually be despair and sadness.
She isn't very sympathetic, and can be extremely coldblooded when it comes to death of people, and lesser animals, but even a firelizard dying can make her suddenly snap and lash out at everything around her. She's prone to ignoring her body's needs completely until she's used up her current store of anger, and when enraged, won't stop until she's well and truly exhausted. Thus, any storm of anger tends to end with her collapsed on her bed at the end, once everyone else has gotten away from her.
Her anger is never poisonous or bitter, miraculously - it's always honest, spur of the moment fury, and she manages to treat everyone around her equally. She has a soft spot for any animal, and generally doesn't flare up as much when she's doting on a beast. She tears up easily, but she doesn't let people see it. Ceinwen can be quite lonely, but has learned to live with it, though she willingly trusts everyone she meets, despite how often she may get mad at them.
History: Ceinwen was a weyrbrat at Falmas Weyr. Both her parents were servants and she never knew them well, but she was fostered and the welcoming nature of the Weyr was more than enough to substitute for direct parental love and guidance. However, she quickly found out that the world wasn't just or fair, as she innocently believed it to be. When she first saw a Shattered, livid with rage, its rider dead, she suddenly found the world losing its charm, its colour. It was a savage, frightening place, and she tried to harden herself to deal with it.
That attempt failed - she couldn't be cold and aloof and distanced from tragedy - but she could be angry at how unfair it all was. And she grew angry, and then furious, and she found out that being angry with all the things in life that kept it from being perfect made her feel more determined to change it, and she cried less and was, if not happy, sometimes content with her life, with the way it was going. There was still fear, there was still sadness, but now she was fighting with it, and that was what was important.
If people noticed the sensitive, soft-hearted child clam up and become prickly with anger, they didn't say much about it - except to be surprised when she agreed to Stand, and no protests were made.
