Alyectan froze as the serpent that had disengaged slithered towards her. The beast wrapped around her ankles and coiled up. It almost seemed pleased it was again wrapped around flesh. The girl slowly drew out a dagger as the beast continued its spiraling progress. From inside her cloak she slowly drew a dagger, as to not alert the creature to it's presence.
Then the thing tapped into her mind. Yesssss, another suitable? Do you think you have the guts to be mine? And you, you will not be taken by anyone else, no. Nngorln will not accept failure... Mine.
In her mind? Alyectan suddenly smirked. That was HER territory. The dagger flashed out but instead of stabbing, she dragged the tip of the blade along the serpent's scales lovingly, almost seductively. "Guts? I think you'll find we're perfectly matched, love."
To herself she added Bonded, huh? This is far better than any dragon...
The Nngorln had wound herself so her head was parallel with Alyectan's eyes. Alyectan even loved the red gashes where eyes would be. What a frighteningly thrilling touch. "My you're a beauty. WHat do you say we stay here and see where the others go. Scope out the competition. Maybe you'll get a chance to prove yourself against one of your brethren.
You will find I need not prove anything. I am simply on the top.
Alyectan again smirked. This would be the start of a beautiful relationship. Or if you were a sane, law-abiding individual, quite a horrible one indeed.

Okay. He was leaving now. Yup, leaving, leaving, leaving...Anytime now his legs would listen to him, and he'd go running down the corridor to freedom! Anytime now...Yup...Now! Okay, on the count of three...One...Two...Three! Four...Five...Six...Seven...Eight...Nine...Ten! Still not moving. Why wasn't he moving, shard it!? Dangerous place, should equal him running away, so his legs should be moving at a rapid pace to carry him away from the evil, bloodsucking, hungry monsters in front of him. Though the monsters didn't seem to be quite so bloodthirsty anymore...One was practically purring to the girl it was wrapped around. The red slits that might have been eyes, were really creeping him out here, and the fact that it really did seem to like crushing people...He should leave about now.
Taln was half glad that nothing had seen him, half upset that no one thought him good enough to pay attention to. It was a strange mix, and slowly the former side was winning. Nothing had seen him! He could leave and no one would care; more importantly nothing would folow him and eat him later on, which would be a real dissapointment and make his evening that little bit worse. Right! He was off! Legs, shardin' well listen for once. Weren't limbs supposed to be a part of him? And therefore they should obey his commands, which they weren't doing very well right now. His body was betraying him!
"'m gonna leave now," he mumbled, finally taking a step backwards, though he couldn't seem to manage another one. He had hoped that saying it would make it somewhat more real then it had been before, and he'd then be able to flee like a herdbeast that was being chased by a dragon...Wait, didn't most herdbeasts not get away in time? Oh great. He really needed to leanr new metaphors...Quickly...Very quickly...So quickly, in fact, that he would think up a new one right here, right now. At least that would keep his mind off the doom that was sure to befal him if he didn't run soon.

Something dark and copper loomed out of the darkness behind Taln, looking back to a smaller blue and purple tunnelbeast for guidance. When its companion nodded vigorously, the copper behemoth moved slowly and deliberately towards Taln, the tunnelbeast larger than even Nngorln and Elyln before it. The metallic titan did not wrap itself around Taln as the others did, but surrounded him in a miniature fortress of its coils, protected and safe from any others that would dare to try and harm what the copper mammoth had decided would be its own. The much smaller purple and blue tunnelbeast seemed to grin at its companion's choice, and gesticulated with its tail once more when the massive tunnelbeast seemed to be a little unsure of the choice. A solid, deep voice slammed into Taln's mind, sudden, swift, and terse. Taln. You would leave before your Reguln comes for you?Copper RegulnBonds to Taln (Akusma) C73F17 Appearance: Reguln is undeniably the largest tunnelbeast that the Weyr will ever see. He'll grow to be the size of a small Bronze, and will be simply humongous when he reaches his full height. He's very pleasantly colored and almost shockingly shiny, and his markings of a darker clay-colored hue are square-shaped spirals that slither along his hide in a rather enchanting manner. Personality: Quick and to the point, Reguln may seem stupid because he never speaks, but he's really the strong and silent type. He's impossible to move to rage, and he will defend anybody that he sees needing it. Reguln hates nothing more than bullies, as they are a lower class in his mind, scum to be ground beneath his coils into the dirt. He's extremely defensive and protective, and almost fanatically loyal as well. Reguln is not one to engage in lofty conversations or the like; he's down to earth, plain, and simple in both speech and thought. Mindvoice: Though like as not you won't hear it because he rarely voices his thoughts, Reguln has a deep, gravelly voice that fits him surprisingly well. It's earth-shaking and can easily be turned into a roar that would have even Gorheilith trembling from the sheer terror of it. That's not to say he'd ever do that, though--he's far too patient. He didn't even look behind him, as he stood there, thinking of his impending doom and destruction and what have you. Normally people never looked up, ever. Why was that? Surely in a dark room, when the evil monsters could climb walls quite easily, as seen less then a minute before, they'd be on the ceiling? Still, nobody ever look up! Not that it really mattered much when he should have been looking behind him, but the thought had struck him when the large shape had appeared, so he was running with it like - oh shard the similies for a moment. That was it! They weren't metaphors at all! They were similies! And right now he was going to run like a herdbeast on...Erm...Mind addling substances?
As the fortress of coils wound itself around him, only not so much around him as slightly away from him, but still creating a sort of wall between him and the other people, like an actual wall...Getting back to the matter at hand here! There was a thing wrapped around him, and he had to leave...Now. Where was the door? No, seriously. There had to be a door round here somewhere...Riiiight? Faranth this thing was big. For a moment, Taln spun in circles as he tried to spot a gap...in the round coils, but a gap he was looking for. It was going to eat him! He didn't want to be eaten! He didn't taste nice! Not that he knew that for a fact, he hadn't eaten himself lately, but it was the thought that counted.
Taln. You would leave before your Reguln comes for you? Taln blinked, stumbling against the coils slightly until his knees hit the top one after he'd jumped; and then he was on his back, staring up at the stone ceiling, legs dangling over the bunched muscle. "Yes," he said, half distracted by the crack his eyes had started following for no apparant reason. "I did think you were about to eat me - maybe not you...No, no, it was you. You're really big did you know that?" The Copper paused, staring with an eyeless head at the boy, coils slinking over each other as he moved. ...I won't eat you. "I gathered that. What with the speaking. You really are big. How do you see?" Perhaps the Copper was going to regret bonding to this one.
Reguln moved, sliding out of the ring he'd created to form half a circle around the boy, head hovering near the boy's own. Taln moved his head to stare at the face. He was a lovely colour, a nice deep orange, and shiny, with darker...lines all over him. "Errr...Possibly the wrong time to ask this, but what are you?" I am a Tunnelbeast, Copper. He said nothing more then that as he lifted his head to look around the room, partly to glance back at the smaller creature he had left, and partly to see who could possibly cause his new bonded harm. Nngorln would get no closer to this one then she would to Elyln's. Taln merely blinked, 'oooohhhhh'ing as he struggled to sit up, a coil overlapping his feet. "Reguln?" It moved, causing him to giggle at the feel of soft scales sliding down his ankle. Great, so he was...A rider now? What did you do with a Tunnelbeast? Obviously, none were big enough to ride yet, you'd end up walking with them, but how much would they grow? Could they flame? He doubted it, and hoped not. So! His aspirations to be a dragonrider were gone! He'd ride a beast of a different kind now. Now that was a good line.

(Another NPC!) Stupid dimglows. Bah! Where had Sydon gone? He had promised to meet him earlier for a game of cards....which would result in some fun gambling between them and some other of the weyrfolk that worked late at night. Nejun had waited for a good half a candlemark already. Time to go looking for his wayward "acquitance". They weren't really friends, more of people who knew each other and loved to take advantage of each other.
Going down into the Lower Caverns, Nejun began searching at one of the main tunnels, taking several branch tunnels on his search. Not there.... not... there... Who thought there were so many stupid stacks of crates and boxes down here? Not there.... Not there.... SCORCH IT! He was getting bored here! Bored. Bored. Bored. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORED! Gah! Forget the dimglow, Sydon! He backtracked down a different tunnel branch and ran smackdab into the corridor with all the tunnelbeasts in it and there he saw Sydon with that blind creature nearby.
"Dimglow!" he shouted at Sydon, "You were supposed to meet me in the Kitchens over at least a half a candlemark ago!" Punching Sydon in the face, the man then glared around at all the tunnel-snake things. "What are those things? Some kind of mutant tunnelsnake?" he asked, brown eyes flashing. Oh yes, Nejun was in full-jerk mode. Which meant that he wanted his questions anwsered and anwsered NOW.

The smaller tunnelbeast, after watching his companion find His, looked over at the sound of Nejun's voice, another grin on its face. Oh yes, he would be perfect, just perfect. The brightly colored 'beast shot over to Nejun and wrapped him in its immobilizing embrace, coiling around what it had deemed to be his in a colored straitjacket. Nejun! Your Frolgln was waiting for you, you jerk! Do you have any idea I've been sitting here, waiting?! Frolgln huffed in an indignant tone. I even helped Reguln find His while you were gone! Frolgln seemed to pause. At least you're here now, though, you big dimglow. And yeah, you're my dimglow, anyway.Enamel FrolglnBonds to Nejun (Eyota) CC00FF-00EEEE Appearance: Frolgln is probably the runt of his clutch, being smaller than even the other Enamels. That doesn't stop him from being a complete and utter pain, though. In contrast to his personality, Frolgln actually has quite a pleasant hide, marked as it is with bright blue and jewel-toned purple. It's a wonder he lasted so long in the presence of behemoths like Nngorln and the other more bloodthirsty 'beasts, what with his startling coloration and all. There's a secret to that, however--Frolgln's bite, like the others of his coloration, is poisonous. He secretes quite the powerful venom that can hurt like nobody's business in small doses, and kill in medium sized ones. As a result, he may have to be put in a rather large muzzle throughout his lifetime, and especially when he gets to his full length of 9 1/2 feet. Personality: To put it simply, Frolgln is an ass. He hates it when his name is mispronounced--that's FROLN, with a long O, not Frol-gln or whatever else kind of cracked-up pronunciation you can come up with. He's coarse, gritty, and likes nothing more than picking on those weaker than him, which is a little difficult since he's a member of the lowest ranked color of tunnelbeast. Frolgln enjoys all manner of crude activities, be it checking out the ladies (not Nngorln, however, he knows better than that after she ate Gnarln) or pulling nasty pranks on those that His doesn't like. Frolgln has a massive ego and thinks that he's the best thing ever, and if you try to tell him different, Shards to you, you're just wrong. The only other 'beast that he gets along with in any relative sense is Reguln, and heck if anybody knows why.
Mindvoice: He sounds a little bit annoying, like one of those bully-backups from elementary school. It's not a pleasant voice, but he could sound worse. Frolgln, when angered, has the horrible luck of having his voice shoot up two or three octaves. He hates it when that happens, but most find it horribly funny. [/center]
